This is a vest I thrifted from Elgin Vintage, and applique quilted these witchy frogs on the back. I used fabric scraps from other projects I completed. I also added some cool embroidered trim to the shoulders. I think I will add star buttons to my collar too, but I haven't done it yet.
This year Elisa and I decided to be cirus mice for Halloween this past year! I made our costumes from scratch with cotton fabric. I ordered these mouse ears and tails, and attached a little hat to the headband on the ears. I think these were fantastic.
I loved making this little apron for Elisa's sister! Megan loves chickens, so I created this chicken quilt block pattern myself. I also found this cute duck fabric at the store, and I bought some incase my chicken square didn't come out the way I intended. Instead, I used it for little pockets!
This is a pair of jeans I thrifted from Savers. I found a cool embroidered vest (I think also at savers) that had a pretty floral design and I thought it would look great on the pair of jeans I had sitting in the craft room! I used a star pattern I had constructed out of cardboard (I use stars a lot) to cut out 2 stars, and sewed them to the knees of the jeans using a zigzag stitch. I think they go well with my beige sweater!
I knit Natalie this sweater in 2022! I don't remember much about it because it was a while ago, but I absolutely loved the color of the yarn, and it fit her perfectly.
I sewed this bandana for Sriracha with a scrap piece of fabric from my first quilt. Sriracha looooves bugs, and I got to use my serger for this craft.
I entered the Elgin Fringe Art Festival in 2025, and ended up creating this apron dress! I wanted to applique quilt some fun designs onto a dress for myself, and after months of staring at my mostly blank design wall, I got started. I used old fabric scraps to create little stars of various sizes. I made a Sriracha, but it got too big for the dress. To the right I try to figure out what to do about that.
I ended up just making a much smaller verson. I liked this one better anyway! I also added carrots, a penguin, grapefruit, a quilt star block, a tamagotchi, and bumble bees. The top of the apron dress is made from some denim I had laying around, and I used one of my favorite scraps from my own quilt to create a large front pocket that fits my phone.
My Apron dress was displayed in the Elgin Fringe Festival in September 2025! It was so fun to see all the other art pieces, and I was excited (and vervous) to see my own piece up on display as well.
I constructed this wand for my Tooth Fairy costume in Halloween 2024! I used a wooden dowel, and added some ribbon and beads to the top. I sewed a star together out of cream colored felt, and I stuffed it with filler. I glued letter beads to the front that spell out 'Gimme ur teeth' and attached the star to the dowel with hot glue.
This vest uses the Sydney Graham 'Ruby Vest' Pattern. I skipped the quilting step by buying this pink quilted material from Joann Fabrics. On the back, I attached some orange, pink, and purple ribbons. I also added rhinestones to the front in a tooth shape, and I added some pearls and sparkles as well.
I also made these hair ties to go with the costume! I used elastic hair ties and the same ribbons from the back of the vest. I found these cute teeth buttons online at Etsy, and I used a sparkly white pipe cleaner to make the loops, which are sort of like wings. I can adjust them while they are in my hair to how I prefer.
Karissa and I went to an estate sale and bought 2 quilts for $10 each! I am normally very hesitant to cut up a quilt, but this one was kinda worn, and I think it has gotten more use as a jacket. I grabbed a jacket that fit Karissa from Goodwill, and I took the jacket apart a the seams to reverse engineer my own pattern.
Then, I cut the pieces from the quilt. I chose where to place my patterns very carefully. I wanted the jacket to be somewhat symmetrical. I sewed this on my Singer Heavy Duty 4432, and I was able to complete this with almost no trouble. There were a couple extra thick seams that my machine struggled with, but I just went extra slow.
