My first quilt was sewn in August/September of 2023. I decided to make a 9 patch queen sized quilt for my sister for christmas. I went to Joanns (RIP) and picked out several fabrics. I set up shop in my bedroom with an 8 foot banquet table, and used my bed and the floor to lay out different designs before sewing.
The 9 patch was a perfect starter quilt to learn the basics. I did this entire quilt by myself on my Singer Heavy Duty 4432. It was difficult getting the middle quilted, but not impossible. I also sewed my own binding, which I have stopped doing as much as I did when I was first starting out. I bought cotton batting for this quilt, but I don't remember much else about this process.
I was overall very pleased with this process, and felt justified in continuing my quilting journey.
