Quilt #5

My next quilt was for my grandma. She has been spending more time at home to take care of my grandpa, watching Netflix shows with her cat in her newly renovated basement until 1am. She was quite the LGBTQ+ ally for me in 2024.

I quilted this one myself. I used the 'stitch in the ditch' method. I bought some bia tape from Hobby Lobby to use as binding, and I think the color matches perfectly. I also hate making my own binding, so this was a win for me.

This was the first quilt I completed using my craft room! Now that I had a quilt design wall to put my fabric up on, I was able to visualize the design much better.

For fun, I used some bright purple thread to accent the multicolor rainbow squares in the intersecting borders. I used a specialty stitch on my machine and immediately wished my machine could do more of them! This quilt is slightly smaller than a twin. Which was fine with me, since I hoped my grandma would keep it downstairs.

This quilt is very similar to the previous one I had made myself; I did more ohio stars devided by borders. This time, the ohio stars were a bit more complex. in the sqare belly of each large star block, I added a reversed, smaller ohio star. I also flipped the 4 corners of the larger ohio stars. I think it adds interesting detail, in a good way.
